If you’re unhappy with the lack of size options in Apple’s next generation MacBook Pro, just hang tight. KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo on Thursday said he believes Apple will begin production on a 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina later this year, with a target release of October, just in time for the holidays.
According to this “insider,” Apple has high hopes for a 13-inch Retina display Pro, though the company is facing assembly difficulty, which is why only the 15-inch model was introduced at WWDC. As for specs: Kuo said the upcoming model will come with a resolution of 2,560×1,600, Ivy Bridge processor with a clock speed greater than 2GHz, Intel HD 4000 integrated graphics, no optical drive and a frame that’s thinner than the current 15-inch model.
Scaling down to 13-inches seems like a natural progression for the next generation MacBook Pro line. The machine’s current size may be perfect for some, but a 13-inch Pro definitely offers more portability. Kuo previously predicted that Apple would retie its 17-inch MacBook Pro, which subsequently turned out to be true. If a 13-inch model is indeed on the way, October is really not all that far off
